Vitamin D

Vitamin D promotes calcium absorption in the gut, enables normal bone mineralization, supports immunity, promotes healthy cell growth, and helps maintain normal neuromuscular function.1*

  • The current American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommendation is that all infants and children should have a minimum intake of 400 IU (international units) of vitamin D per day beginning soon after birth.2
  • AAP guidance specifies that exclusively or partially breastfeeding infants should be supplemented with 400 IU daily, and non-breastfeeding infants should consume at least 32 ounces of formula daily. For non-breastfeeding infants consuming less than 32 ounces a day of formula, the AAP recommends supplementation as well.2
  • One serving of Zarbee’s® Baby Vitamin D Drops delivers the daily 400 IU of vitamin D recommended by the AAP.2

Other vitamins and minerals

Of course, it’s best for toddlers and older children to get as much nutrition as possible from healthy foods. For parents of picky eaters, suggest these tips from the AAP:

  • Share a meal together as a family as often as you can
  • It can take as many as 10 or more times tasting a food before a toddler’s taste buds accept it—so keep trying
  • Help your child explore new flavors and textures by offering a variety of healthy foods
  • Involve kids in meal planning and preparation
  • Once a food is accepted, use what nutritionists call “food bridges” to introduce other dishes with similar color, flavor, and texture—for example, a child who likes pumpkin pie could try mashed sweet potatoes and then mashed carrots

To fill nutritional gaps, consider a supplement

Zarbee’s® nutritional support* products provide essential vitamins and minerals without high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors.
